Scanning technique
Movement guidelines
Keep it linear: linear movements with minimal rotations help MAVO 3D process captured points accurately. The phone’s position tracking works best when it can predict your movement path.
Avoid excessive rotation: quick turns confuse the tracking system and reduce scan quality
Scanning strategy
Area by area approach: scan from floor to ceiling in each area before moving to the next section. Avoid scanning by horizontal layers - don’t do all floors first, then all walls, then all ceilings. Instead, section the room vertically and scan from floor to ceiling and back down in each section.
Why this matters: There isn’t enough detail for MAVO 3D to determine which points belong together when you jump between areas randomly.
Use reference objects to create photo checkpoints
MAVO 3D has a neat optimization technology that helps align point clouds correctly after scanning. To get the best results with this "Loop Closure" technology, here some tips for 3D scanning with MAVO 3D. Choosing suitable reference objects
Pick something with distinctive features and colors. For example: a blue couch works well; a plain white wall doesn’t. In construction sites or empty rooms corners work well too.
